Responsabilities from DMP to Comp
I would like to open this topic to speak about the connection between our two departments.
As a comper, there are many various way of received a DMP, like a render files or a script.... from basic to complex Environment.
Some of us would prefer to receive plenty of layers/masks to tweak as much as they will have to or just get one layer already MatchMove to focus on the others elements.
What I would love to flag is most of the time (without to say 90%), the creative part is still in progress and we all need to think about the method and how others graphists will continue the jobs.
Please share any perception on how a DMP jump to other department...
* Any compers here ? What do you prefer to have ? Can we request more from this department ? Should we ask them some comp basic ? what about the efficiency ?
* Any DMP artist perspective ? How do think this department evoluate in a pipeline?
I hope to get any share and ideas to developt them together

Re: Responsabilities from DMP to Comp
HI there,
I come back to speak about efficiency of a script, which will save a lot of troubles. How to read a script from a department to an other when each of them are focus on different parts and when every artists have their ways of work.
As most of the DMP artist will use Nuke for projection, or to put live in context... some rules have to be applied.
Here some of useful links for some basics part.
It's obvisouly not the most sexiest part of nuke, but it's really important in a full time production.
I will share some useful tricks to read as well a big script, to not loosing the efficiency and at the end the creative part.

Great... Enjoy this website. Come back if you need some precisions.
Re: Responsabilities from DMP to Comp
Man, that website is a goldmine!
Are materials and files free for download? I have found what I was looking for, a Nuke example file for camera projection O__o

Re: Responsabilities from DMP to Comp
I have few days to learn Nuke basics and camera projection. (I am not a compositor but I am experienced in after effects and I studied cam proj in Maya.) So, everything that is clear and well explained is useful to me.

That sounds really interesting, I'm sure I'll check it out when I get some more free time. Thanks for sharing!
