Hi all,
I haven't much time for this yet, but very interesting renders in Modo! Shared by Reid Southen a few days ago.
I believe it may be useful for DMPs.
Render times really short, about minutes.
The last reply includes working link to the ZIP file with scene and textures.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention Jan, I hadn't seen this but it looks very interesting indeed! That is, how can i say it... a SHIT LOAD of trees! Very Happy
I've been testing doing tree renders recently between renderman and vray to see what results i can get and how expensive the renders are, but I've not got anything close to the geo this guy has and I'm still getting some quite hefty render times...
I'll investigate, but if you have any tests of your own, don't be shy, get the up here, I would be very eager to see!

Haha, yeah it is... exactly Very Happy.
I'm glad it may be useful!
Well, honestly I've tested just a few renders of this prepared scene and done an analysis so far, but when I'll get more free time, I'm sure I'll return to this.

There is another one, but really not as great as the first one:

That one still looks pretty damn good to me! Interesting idea to drive the leaves with a fur shader. I have created a few plants over the last few months but unfortunately all at different times so im sure they would look awful if i pulled them all into one scene to render together. I do have a side project tho that i return to very infrequently that is based around heavy tree rendering like this tho so i will need to nail it at some point...
