gathering photo images for dmp
hey guys.
Im currently toiling away on a new dmp and i always take a long time finding good images for the lay in process so i was wondering if any of you guys had any tips or strategies that you have found useful when looking for appropriate photos because i have been known to sit in front of google images for hours upon hours and only find a handful.

Hi brujahbart,
This is always a bit of a problem if you havent got access to either a good location to shoot things yourself, or have a client that commissions a shoot for you.
In most cases that you aren't working professionally, you won't have these things.
The only real advice I have is to try and be specific with your search criteria. For example, instead of just searching for 'New Zealand Mountains', do a bit of research on specific areas of New Zealand that have those mountains and start searching by place name or landmark name, like Mount Cook. That should help you get more variety around an area that you know is what you are looking for. Also, Using googles 'search for similar images' tools can be helpful sometimes.
Finally, some of the good stock image websites - places like cgtextures / stockexchange etc. will not appear in search engine results, so it's worth having them bookmarked for those occassions when you really need them.
But image hunting is a time consuming process, so be prepared to spend a good chunk of your life doing it, just make sure you save the good ones for later and save yourself having to repeat the process a few weeks/months/years down the line
Cheers,
N

I quote Nick's tips, and I add my 50 cent: try searching in several languages, not only english. web search, not image search - that comes later.
for example when earlier today I needed rooftops for my dmp, I googled 'weimar gebäude goethes haus'. Every image search is first a search for informations
hope this helps.
